The Prachatice region cannot be passed by mainly by lovers of natural beauty, historical monuments, hiking and winter sports, nor by cyclists and water sportsmen. The countryside of the region is diverse: South Bohemian ponds in and around Netolice, fruit-growing areas near Lhenice, deep Boubín forests as well as thick forests in the border area with their timber settlements, the picturesque countryside of the Prachatice part of Šumava and the Šumava National Park, the River Vltava, which is interesting for water sportsmen from Lenora and Soumarský Bridge in the direction of Nová Pec, a number of pedestrian nature trails (one of the oldest is the Bear Path), a large number of cycle paths – all this is awaits visitors to this unique countryside.

Those who are looking for sport can visit the summer resort of Babylon, where there are ideal conditions for swimming, water sports, hiking and bike riding.

The Šumava Mountains together with the neighbouring Bavarian Forest form the vastest woodland area in the heart of Europe called “The Green Roof Of Europe”. The most valuable parts of the natural heritage are protected in the Šumava National Park. Although the best-known virgin forest in the Czech Republic is situated in the adjoining Šumava Protected Landscape Area.
